Chairman of the Board of Directors of JOG Capital
Ryan currently serves as the President and CEO of Vesta Energy Corp., a JOG Capital investment company which is focused on exploration and production activities in the Duvernay formation.
Ryan joined JOG Capital in 2004, prior to the fundraising of JOG LP II. He is the Chairman of JOG Capital’s board of directors and has represented JOG Capital as a director on a number of portfolio company boards.
Ryan has over 20 years of experience in the oil and gas financial industry. Prior to JOG Capital he was Relationship Manager for the Senior Energy Desk at ATB Financial from 2002 to 2004. Prior to ATB Financial, Ryan was an Associate in the Global Corporate and Investment Banking Division at Bank of America's Calgary office. From 1997 to 1999, Ryan was an Analyst with Credit Lyonnais, focusing on structured energy lending in their Calgary office.
Ryan has been registered with the Alberta Securities Commission since 2012 as an advising representative and dealing representative.
Ryan received his CFA charter in 2001 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a Finance specialization from the University of Saskatchewan.
Craig joined JOG Capital in 2007 and currently acts as President. Craig is primarily involved in deal sourcing and investment decisions. He sits as a director on the following boards of JOG Capital's portfolio companies: Vesta Energy Corp. (Chairman)., Glenogle Energy Inc., and InPlay Oil Corp.
Craig has over 15 years of experience in the financial and oil and gas industry. Prior to JOG Capital, he worked as an investment banker with RBC Capital Markets focused on equity finance and mergers and acquisitions for domestic and international oil and gas, oil sands, and energy service companies.
Craig has been registered with the Alberta Securities Commission since 2012 as an advising representative and dealing representative.
Craig received his CFA charter in 2005 and holds an MBA from the University of Western Ontario and a Bachelor of Commerce degree, with a specialization in Finance and Economics, from the University of Alberta.
Chief Financial Officer
Michelle joined JOG Capital in 2004 and leads JOG Capital's finance team. She is responsible for financial reporting, finance and risk management, legal, and regulatory matters.
She has over 25 years of experience in professional accounting and financial consulting, both in public practice with large international firms and in the private sector.
Michelle worked in Russia and Kazakhstan from 1996 to 2001 in several positions including Chief Financial Officer of PricewaterhouseCoopers Central Asia, Deputy Chief Financial Officer for an American NASDAQ-listed telecommunications company with operations in Russia and Manager with PricewaterhouseCoopers Moscow. Prior to working overseas, Michelle worked with KPMG LLP focusing on Canadian upstream oil and gas, construction and mining companies.
Michelle received her CA designation in 1991 and holds a Bachelor of Management degree from the University of Lethbridge.
Kel joined JOG Capital’s technical advisory board in 2013. In 2016, Kel moved to JOG Capital’s operating team as Managing Director. His primary role is deal sourcing, technical analysis, geological review in addition to representing JOG Capital as a director on portfolio company boards.
Kel is an executive with 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry. He serves as Chairman of the Board of Pengrowth Energy Corp. a publicly traded producer, President of Wylander Crude Corp., and Vice President, Corporate Development of Lakeview Energy Ltd. Prior positions include serving as President and Chief Executive Officer of Alberta Clipper Energy Inc., Vice-President, Exploration of Thunder Energy Ltd., and various senior technical, executive and board capacities at Husky Oil Ltd., Startech Energy Inc., Impact Energy Inc., Mustang Resources Ltd. and Peerless Energy Inc. Currently, Kel serves as a Director of the Explorers and Producers Association of Canada (EPAC) and is a Director of Leucrotta Exploration Inc. and Chronos Resources Ltd., both JOG Capital portfolio companies.
Kel holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons.) degree in Geology from the University of Manitoba and a Masters degree in Economics from the University of Calgary.
Daryl joined JOG Capital in 2008 and is primarily involved in deal sourcing, engineering due diligence as well as representing JOG Capital on the board of directors at Karve Energy Inc., Surge Energy Inc., and Leucrotta Exploration Inc.
Daryl is best known in the industry for his work as an independent consultant in reserves evaluation through his work with Gilbert Laustsen Jung Associates Ltd. (GLJ), the largest independent petroleum engineering firm in Canada. He was with GLJ from 1979 until his retirement in 2005. GLJ provides professional services to the Canadian and International oil and gas industry including detailed reservoir and economic analyses, project and corporate evaluations, fair market value appraisals, merger and acquisition advice and expert witness testimony. Daryl was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of GLJ in 1994 after serving as a principal officer from 1988 to 1994. He entered the field of independent consulting in 1979 when he joined the predecessor oil and gas engineering and geological firm which became GLJ. In 1976 he joined Great Northern Oil Ltd. where he managed various oil and gas exploitation projects.
Daryl is a member of the Association of Petroleum Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA).
Jason joined JOG Capital in 2010 and is primarily involved in investment and portfolio analysis. Jason is currently a board observer on Karve Energy Inc., a JOG Capital portfolio company.
Jason has over 12 years of experience in the financial and oil and gas industry. Prior to JOG Capital, he interned at CIBC World Markets in Calgary with the Institutional Equity Research group focusing on large capitalization Canadian companies. Prior to CIBC, Jason spent three years as an Analyst with Schachter Asset Management Inc. focusing on junior domestic and international oil and gas companies. Prior to Schachter Asset Management, Jason worked with AMEC on various large scale civil, water resource, mining and infrastructure projects as part of an engineering group.
Jason received his CFA Charter in 2011 and holds an MBA from the Haskayne School of Business as well as an undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta.
Peter has been advising JOG Capital since 2008 and is primarily involved in providing geological due diligence.
Peter is the President of Destiny Energy Inc., a privately-owned oil and gas company. He is also currently Chairman of the Board of Crescent Point Energy Corp., a JOG Capital portfolio company, a Director of Cequence Energy Ltd., and formerly a Director of New Star Energy Ltd. and Surge Energy Inc. Peter has also held executive and directorship positions at Mission Oil and Gas Inc., Breaker Energy Ltd., StarPoint Energy Inc., Impact Energy Inc., Startech Energy Inc., Boomerang Resources Ltd. and Laurasia Resources Limited. Peter's experience prior to his involvement in public oil and gas companies was as Partner of Sproule Associates Limited, a worldwide petroleum consulting firm.
Peter graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Science in Geology and has over 35 years of oil and gas related experience.
Vice President Finance and Controller
Jackie joined JOG Capital in 2011 and is responsible for financial reporting, tax and regulatory compliance for the JOG Capital funds and corporate entities as well as overseeing the day-to-day accounting and treasury functions.
Jackie has over 25 years of experience in professional accounting and financial reporting. From 2002 to 2011, she worked as an accounting and financial reporting consultant for both public and private entities, including oil and gas and energy infrastructure companies in Calgary. From 1997 to 2002, Jackie was the Controller and Director of Finance for the Calgary Flames Limited Partnership. Prior to that, Jackie worked with KPMG LLP where her client focus was upstream oil and gas and mining companies.
Jackie obtained her CA designation in 1995 and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Saint Mary's University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Manager, Office Administration and Investor Communications
Casey joined the JOG Capital team in 2010 and is responsible for office administration, accounting support, legal, and investor communications, including on-line investor reporting.
Prior to joining JOG Capital, Casey worked as Administrative Assistant for a junior oil and gas company, Redcliffe Exploration Ltd., from 2008 to 2010.
Casey graduated from the University of Alberta in 2008 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree.
