Mr. Gilbert joined JOG in 2008, and is primarily involved in deal sourcing, investment committee analysis and sits on several boards of JOG’s portfolio companies.

Mr. Gilbert is best known in the industry for his work as an independent consultant in reserves evaluation through his work with Gilbert Laustsen Jung Associates Ltd. (also known as "GLJ", the largest independent petroleum engineering firm in Canada). Mr. Gilbert was with GLJ from 1979 until his retirement in 2005.

GLJ provides professional services to the Canadian and international oil and gas industry including detailed reservoir and economic analyses, project and corporate evaluations, fair market value appraisals, merger and acquisition advice and expert witness testimony. Mr. Gilbert was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of GLJ in 1994 after serving as a principal officer from 1988 to 1994. He entered the field of independent consulting in 1979 when he joined the predecessor oil and gas engineering and geological firm which became Gilbert Laustsen Jung Associates Ltd. In 1976 he joined Great Northern Oil Ltd. where he managed various oil and gas exploitation projects.

Mr. Gilbert is a member of the Association of Petroleum Engineers, Geologists and Geophysicists of Alberta, the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers.
